「メテオクレーター」って、聞いたことありますか？
私は初めて知りました。
「メテオ」は隕石という意味なので、直訳すると「隕石の跡」という意味です。
その「メテオクレーター」と呼ばれる観光名所がアリゾナ州にあります！
日本語では、「バリンガー・クレーター」などとも。
今日は、ニューメキシコ州、テキサス州ときて、新しい土地。

プチ情報 このアリゾナ州とニューメキシコ州をまたぐエリアにネイティブアメリカンたちが住んでいる地域「ナバホ・ネイション(Navajo Nation)」と呼ばれる地域いがあります。ここにはナバホ族が今も住んでいて、この地域は、ナバホたちの税金と州自体の税金のWで税金がかかる場所でもあります。

このメテオクレーターは、ダニエル・モロー・バリンジャーの調査によって、隕石の衝突によって形成されたクレーターだとわかりました。（それまでは、火山の火口だと思われていたらしい。確かに富士山の火口に似てなくもない。）
今は、そのバリンジャーさんの子孫たちがこのクレーターを買い取ったので、国立公園っぽいけど、実は個人の私有地なんです！
めっちゃお金持ち！！！！！！！！！
５万年前からこの形。
地図を見ていただいたら、お分かりの通り、周りになーーーーんにもないんです。
噂では、NASAの研究所があるとかないとか。。。笑
宇宙好き、隕石好きの方には！！笑

メテオクレーターのすぐ近くから、ナバホ族たちの居住エリアが始まるので、ちょっと車を走らすとこんな感じ。
「アメリカ」と聞いたら、ニューヨークとかロサンゼルスなどの大都会を想像される方も多いのではないでしょうか。未だ手付かずの大自然もたくさん残っていて、自然も都会も見てみたいという方には、ロードトリップぴったりの国だと思います！
また後日、ナバホ族についての記事を書きますが、日本人に顔が似てるにてる！！
顔が似てるということだけで、その場にいたナバホ族の人と仲良くなって、その日一日、観光案内してくれたっていうくらい！笑

アリゾナ州に行かないと、ネイティブアメリカンたちがそこに住んでることを知ることもなく、出会うこともなく、そして友達になることもなく。
実際に行かないとわからないことってたくさんありますね。
頭でっかちになりすぎないよう日頃から意識しようと思ったきっかけの一つでした。

Have you ever heard of the “Meteor Crater”? I just found out about it myself. “Meteor” means meteorite, so the literal translation is “the trace of a meteorite.” But there is a tourist attraction called the “Meteor Crater” in Arizona! In Japanese, it is also known as the “Barringer Crater.”
Today’s blog is about a new location, after New Mexico and Texas. It’s about Arizona!

Fun fact: In this area that spans Arizona and New Mexico, there is a region where Native Americans live called the “Navajo Nation.” The Navajo people still live here, and this area is subject to both Navajo taxes and state taxes.
I learned that the Meteor Crater was formed by a meteorite impact thanks to the research by Daniel Moreau Barringer (before that, it was thought to be a volcanic crater, which actually resembles the crater of Mount Fuji). Now, the descendants of Mr. Barringer have bought this crater, so it looks like a national park, but it is actually privately owned land! They are very rich!!!
This shape has existed for 50,000 years.
As you can see from this map, there is absolutely nothing around it. There are rumors that there is a NASA research facility or maybe not. Haha.
For those who love space and meteorites! Haha. I recommend it!
Because there is only this large crater and a small tourist facility, if you find it interesting, I would recommend visiting!

Near the Meteor Crater, as soon as you start driving, you will reach the living area of the Navajo people, so it looks like this.
When people hear “America,” many imagine big cities like New York or Los Angeles. There are still many untouched natural landscapes, making it the perfect country for road trips!
I will write an article later about the Navajo people, but they really look similar to Japanese people!! Just because we look alike, I became friends with a Navajo person who was there and they were kind enough to be my tour guide for the day. Haha.
DNA is interesting, isn’t it? If I hadn’t gone to Arizona, I wouldn’t have known that Native Americans were living there or had the chance to meet them. There are so many things that you can only understand by actually going there. It was one of the inspirations for me to not become too intellectually oriented.
