海外っぽいと、もう思った。
お家でショートパスタが晩御飯に出てくることありますでしょうか、日本で。
ドリンクはリンゴジュース🍎
これは朝ごはんですね。
ドリンクはオレンジジュース。
ロングフライトの時は、オレンジジュースはやめとこうと学んだ事件。
柑橘系は吐き気をもよおしやすいらしく、
この時、緊張と気圧の変化のストレスからか、胃がオレンジジュースをうけつけませんでした。
これ以来、私はフライトではリンゴジュース派です。
コーヒー・緑茶はトイレに行きたくなるから、よっぽど飲みたい時以外は頼まず。
いつも、500mlか1Lがいいかな？、水を持って乗り込んでいます。
出されるミール（ご飯）は、カロリーが高すぎる（成人男性に合わせてるとの話）なので、
日本人女性平均身長体重の私にとっては、too much!!!!
いつも、半分くらい残すようにしてます。
（これは人それぞれなので、自分で良い塩梅を見つけてください〜）
今でも、JetStar 関空~ブリスベン線は飛んでいるのか気になったので調べてみたら、
なんと、コロナ禍は飛んでいなくて、来年の２月から復活だそうです！
すごいタイミング！
しかも安い！
片道30,470円〜（2023年9月現在）
飛行時間は、11時間30分。
意外と長い!
地図で見たら、日本から真っ直ぐ下に行けばすぐやのに。
時差は、１時間！
あれ？そんなもんやったかな？
飛行時間が４時間とかやったら、めっちゃオーストラリア行ってたな〜笑
ターキッシュエアラインも今年(2023年)の12月に、関空〜イスタンブール線を復活させるみたい!!!
関空にどんどんいろんな航空会社が戻ってきてるーーー！

ではここで、ブリスベンの紹介を!
ブリスベン(英：Brisbane）は、オーストラリアで３番目に人口の多い都市。
街中はイギリスぽい建物が残っていて、学校が多い学園都市！
おだやか〜な都会っていう記憶ですが、今はどうなんでしょう。
最近のブリスベンをご存知の方、教えてくださいー！
オーストラリアは慢性的な水不足が問題で、
私がお世話になったホームステイ先の家族からは特に何も言われなかったけど、
他の友人の家では、「シャワーは３日に１回ね」とか「シャワーは５分だけ」って
言われてて、あれは驚いた! しかも、夏！暑い！
今やったら、いろんな国に行って、いろんなことを見てきたから理解できるけど、
まだ高校生やった私は、お金を払えば水は無限に水道から出てくるものと思っていたから、
「オーストラリアの人って、お金ないの…?」
って失礼なことを思っていました。
（すみませんでした！）
電気も水もガソリンも有限です!
当たり前やけど！
お金を払えば、電気も使えて、水も出てくる日本は恵まれているんです！
で、確か記憶では、朝７時くらいにブリスベン✈️についてそのまま観光した！
あ、その前に税関でスーツケースチェックがあったね。
後にも先にも、スーツケースの中身チェックはブリスベンだけ！
当時、ダッフィーのぬいぐるみをスーツケースに入れてて、税関の人に笑われたよね。笑
恥ずかしかった笑

遠目に都心部の高層ビルを眺める ←海外あるあるじゃないですか？笑
日本はどこもかしこも高層ビルが並んでるから、こういう風景は見れないから、海外きたーーーーって感じでした。
眠たすぎて、「人の顔に見える〜」って寝ぼけながら撮った記憶の写真です。
次に訪れたのが、コアラ保護区の
ローンパイン・コアラ・サンクチュアリ

ここは、世界初世界大のコアラ園で、他の州や地域ではコアラを直接抱っこすることを禁止しているところもありますが、ここではコアラの抱っこが認められていて、写真を撮ることもできます。
お昼に行ったら、基本寝てました。
というのも、コアラは半夜行性で、時々夜に寝たり昼間行動したりします。コアラの一日の睡眠時間は約18~20時間。起きてるコアラに会えた方がラッキーかも！？「コアラ」という言葉は、オーストラリアの原住民アボリジニの言葉で「水を飲まない」という意味があるそうで、ユーカリの葉っぱから水分をとってるため、木から降りて水を飲んでいる姿は珍しいらしい！しかも、コアラはオーストラリアにしか生息していないらしい！知らなかった！

コアラ以外にもオーストラリアの動物がたくさんいました。
カンガルーもいます。カンガルーはオーストラリア大陸と、ニューギニア島にしか生息しておらず、ここでもアボリジニたちが出てきます。
「カンガルー」はアボリジニ言語でいうと「跳ぶもの」を指すらしい。
そのままやないかーいと新喜劇のツッコミが聞こえてきそうな。。。
こちらはエミュー。（ダチョウじゃないよ。エミューだよ。）
ダチョウとエミューの違いは、
ダチョウはアフリカに生息し、エミューはオーストラリアに生息。
ダチョウは世界一大きい鳥。エミューは世界で二番目に大きな鳥。
ダチョウの足の指は２本。エミューの足の指は３本。
へえー知らなかった。
そしてお昼ご飯がこちら
なんのお肉やったかな…
オージービーフやったかな…
日本のお肉と比べ、めっちゃ硬かったと思う。
ナイフがめっちゃ切れるガチナイフやったから、焦ったのを覚えてる。
日本の「しゃぶしゃぶ」に出てくる薄切りのお肉は特別なんですよ！
薄切りはあまり他の国で見かけない！
大体ブロックですもんね。
水不足やお肉が硬いなど、小さなカルチャーショックを受けて、相手の文化を理解する。
こういうのが好きなんですね〜昔から。
こんな感じで午前中は観光をし、午後からはいよいよ毎日通う学校へ！

It felt like being overseas.
Do you ever have short pasta for dinner at home in Japan?
The drink is apple juice 🍎
This is breakfast, right?
The drink is orange juice.
During long flights, I learned not to have orange juice.
Citrus fruits tend to cause nausea,
and at that time, due to the stress of nervousness and changes in air pressure, my stomach couldn’t accept orange juice.
Since then, I’ve become a fan of apple juice during flights.
I avoid coffee and green tea because they make me want to use the restroom, so I only order them when I really want them.
I always bring a 500ml or 1L bottle of water with me when boarding.
The meals they serve (rice) are too high in calories (designed for adult men),
so for me, an average-sized Japanese woman in terms of height and weight, it’s too much!!!!
I always try to leave about half of it.
(Of course, this is different for everyone, so find your own balance~)
Even now, I wondered if Jetstar is still flying the Kansai to Brisbane route, so I looked it up and found out that during the pandemic, they’re not flying, but they will resume flights from February next year!
Amazing timing!
And it’s cheap too!
Fares start from 30,470 yen one way (as of September 2023).
The flight time is 11 hours and 30 minutes.
It’s surprisingly long!
Looking at the map, you’d think it’s a straight shot from Japan to Australia.
The time difference is 1 hour!
Hmm, was it like that?
If the flight time were only 4 hours, I would have been in Australia in no time, haha!
It seems that Turkish Airlines will also resume the Kansai to Istanbul route this December (2023)!
Various airlines are coming back to Kansai airport!

Brisbane is the third most populous city in Australia.
The city has a British charm with remaining buildings, and it is known as a city with many schools!
I remember it as a calm urban area, but I wonder how it is now.
If anyone knows about recent Brisbane, please let me know!
Australia has a chronic water shortage problem.
When I stayed with a host family, they didn’t say anything about it, but at other friends’ houses, they would say things like, “You can only shower every three days” or “Take a shower for only five minutes”.
I was surprised! And it was during summer when it was hot!
Now, after traveling to many countries and experiencing various things, I understand, but when I was still in high school, I thought that if you paid money, water would flow endlessly from the faucet in Australia, so I thought, “Do people in Australia not have money…?” That was a rude thought.
(I’m sorry!)
Electricity, water, and gasoline are limited resources!
It’s obvious, but!
In Japan, if you pay money, you can use electricity and have water. We are fortunate!
So, if I remember correctly, we arrived in Brisbane at around 7 in the morning and went sightseeing right away!
Oh, but before that, we had customs check our suitcases.
In the end, it was only in Brisbane that they checked the contents of our suitcases!
At that time, I had a Duffy plush toy in my suitcase, and the customs officer laughed at it.
It was embarrassing, haha.

Looking at the tall buildings in the city center from a distance – that’s a common scene abroad, right? Haha!
In Japan, there are tall buildings everywhere, so you can’t see this kind of scenery, which made me feel like, “I’m really overseas!”
I took a sleepy photo saying, “Looks like a person’s face~”.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

This is the world’s largest koala sanctuary, and in some other states or regions, it is prohibited to hold koalas directly, but here, cuddling koalas and taking pictures with them is allowed.
When we went at lunchtime, they were mostly sleeping.
That’s because koalas are mostly nocturnal and sometimes are active during the day. Koalas sleep for about 18-20 hours a day. It would be lucky to see an awake koala! The word “koala” comes from an Aboriginal language in Australia, which means “does not drink water.” They get their hydration from eucalyptus leaves, so it’s rare to see them come down from the trees to drink water! Also, koalas are said to be found only in Australia! I didn’t know that!

There were many other animals from Australia as well.
There were also kangaroos. Kangaroos are only found in mainland Australia and New Guinea, and Aboriginal people appear here too.
In the Aboriginal language, “kangaroo” means “jumping.”
It sounds like a joke from a comedy show, as if they’re saying, “Isn’t it the same?”
This is an emu. (Not an ostrich, it’s an emu.)
The main difference between an emu and an ostrich is that
Emus inhabit Australia, while ostriches inhabit Africa.
Ostriches are the largest birds in the world, while emus are the second largest.
Ostriches have 2 toes, while emus have 3 toes.
Oh, I didn’t know that.

Was it Aussie beef…
I remember it being really tough compared to Japanese meat.
I was using a super sharp knife, so I was worried.
Thinly sliced meat like in Japanese “shabu-shabu” is special!
Thinly sliced meat is not commonly seen in other countries!
Most of the time, they come in blocks.
Experiencing small culture shocks like water shortage and tough meat helps in understanding the other culture.
I’ve always liked this kind of thing, since a long time ago.
That’s how the morning was spent sightseeing, and in the afternoon, it was finally time to go to school that I would attend every day!
