有名なもの NASA、ヒューストン美術館、ヒューストン水族館、ヒューストン自然科学博物館 etc
早朝に着いて、IAH空港✈️で仲間たちにピックアップしてもらい、みんなに「初めまして！」のご挨拶！
そして、この日はNASA宇宙センターに行くので、まずは腹ごしらえ！（まだ朝６時とかやったしね笑）
この旅でずっとお世話になることになる、スーパーマーケットのウォールマートへ
みんな、初めましてやのに、よそよそしい感じが全くなく。久しぶりに親戚のお兄ちゃん、お姉ちゃんに会った感じで嬉しかった😆
今も付き合いが続いていて、素敵なご縁だなと思っています。

そして、この日のメインイベント、ヒューストン宇宙センターへLet’s GO!!!!
ちなみに、IAH空港から宇宙センターまでは、車で45分くらい！
意外に遠いと思いませんでした？

実際にロケットやミッションコントロールセンターなどの舞台裏を見学できます。（しかも無料。）
英語がわからなくても、楽しめるのでご安心を！
キャンピングカーと呼ぶのは日本だけみたいで、向こうでは”RVカー”と呼ばれています。
ここで、RVカー情報🚗
私たちは１ヶ月でレンタルしました。日本人に人気なのは、ロサンゼルスからニューヨークの西から東へ。理由は日本から飛行機で行くと、ロサンゼルスの方が近いから！
ということは、逆のニューヨークからロサンゼルスでレンタルすると少し安くなるんです。
適当に道端に止めていいわけではなく、RVパークというキャンピングカーで利用できるキャンプ場に止めます。(他にも、ウォールマートの駐車場は車中泊okだし、結構、車中泊okの駐車場がアメリカには多いので、簡単に見つけることができます！) RVパークの各駐車場に、電気と水を補給できる線？ホース？があるので、それを車に繋げば、車内で使い放題！
（ただ、シャワーやトイレを車内で使うと排水が大変なので、私たちはRVパークについてるシャワーとトイレを使っていました。）
RVパークもいろんな種類があって、リゾート系やファミリー向き、老人ホームっぽいパークもあります。
素敵ですよね！リタイア後、パートナーと一緒に小さめのキャンピングカーを買って旅をしながら、老後を過ごす方達も多くいらっしゃいました。
あー素敵！ロサンゼルスで泊まったRVパークはそういった方達が多かって、のんびーりとした、優しい空気に包まれたパークでした。
良いですよね〜！
この日の晩御飯は、みんなでBBQ!!
材料は、もちろん我らがウォールマートで購入。食べて食べて飲んで飲んで！わいわい楽しい初日でした！
次の日に向かったのは、ホワイトサンズと言われるところ。直訳すると、白い砂。。。？
しかも、どんどんどんどん山の方へ向かっていく車。砂浜だから海に行くんじゃないの。。。？
さて、どんなところに辿りつくのでしょうか！

We arrived early in the morning and got picked up by our friends at IAH Airport. It was our first meeting, so we greeted each other with a cheerful “Nice to meet you!” Then, since we were going to NASA Space Center that day, we needed some breakfast first (it was still around 6 am, haha). We headed to Walmart, the supermarket that would take care of us throughout our trip.
Despite it being our first time meeting, there was no awkwardness at all. It felt like meeting long-lost cousins, and we were genuinely happy. Our friendship has continued until now, and I think it’s a wonderful connection. Thank you always!
And now, the highlight of the day, let’s go to the Houston Space Center!

Photos of the previous astronauts. They look incredibly cool! It’s also surprising to see how many astronauts there are. There are plenty of highlights, and you can spend the whole day having fun!
When you visit the Houston Space Center, I highly recommend joining the NASA Tram Tour. It’s fantastic! You can visit the behind-the-scenes of rockets and the Mission Control Center (plus, it’s free!). Even if you don’t understand English, you can still enjoy it, so no worries!
They call it “the camping car” in Japan, but in the US, it’s called an “RV.”
Here’s some RV car information 🚗
We rented one for a month. The popular route is from Los Angeles to the west of New York because it’s closer to Japan! So if you rent from New York to Los Angeles, it’ll be slightly cheaper. We mainly camped in the RV, but we parked at RV parks, which are campgrounds specifically for RVs. Each parking spot has a line or hose where you can supply electricity and water to the RV, so you can use them freely inside the vehicle. (However, using the shower and toilet inside the RV can be challenging for draining, so we used the showers and toilets at the RV park). RV parks come in different types, like resorts, family-friendly ones, and even ones that resemble retirement homes. It’s fantastic! We noticed that many people buy smaller RVs after retirement and travel together with their partners. Ah, it’s lovely! The RV park we stayed at in Los Angeles had many such people, and it had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It’s so nice!
For dinner that day, we had a BBQ together! Of course, we bought the ingredients at Walmart. We ate, drank, and had a great time on our first day!
The next day, we headed to a place called White Sands. White sand… And the car kept driving further and further towards the mountains, not towards the direction of the sea… I wonder where we’ll end up!
